Are you listening?

Most only “hear”, few actually LISTEN.

By Pieter Kirstein

The Spirit of God declared to me many years ago that the greatest problem throughout the earth is that most people only hear and very few actually truly listens.

Even in many conversations many people hear to answer and few listens to truly understand what the other person is saying. This is because of the pride of man many loves to air their own opinions.

In Matthew 5 Jesus took only 12 disciples out of the crowds aside to instruct them in the ways of God. Most only hear but fail to understand and listen.

One night through a powerful Isaiah 57 prophetic encounter Father caught me up into heaven and showed me that the kingdom of heaven realm of paradise and the Mount Zion Kingdom of God are not the same realms. The realm of paradise surrounds Mount Zion which is the ruling kingdom of God.

We all start on the level of salvation in the outer court realm of the flesh as baby Christians which is the realm of the kingdom of heaven, then Father calls us to grow up through the discipline spoken of in Hebrews 12, Philippians 2 and Philippians 3.

If we want to be trained, equipped and disciplined as true disciples of Christ by answering the upward call unto mature sonship then Father first takes us through the school of the Holy Spirit. Read Psalm 15 and Psalm 24.

God’s kingdom is a ruling kingdom. It’s not for babes and toddlers but for those who are brought to maturity.

The Lord said the following through J Leland Earls about those who truly mean business with Him; “Now consider the mount on which Jesus taught His disciples, and that which is revealed in what is commonly called the ‘Sermon on the Mount.’

Were there not multitudes which came to hear that which Jesus spoke?

And were not the disciples taken apart and instructed in that which the multitudes were not ready to hear?

I say to you, I am calling to myself a people who will sit at my feet and hear my words—who will be instructed in the truths of my kingdom and my righteousness.

That which is revealed in the Sermon on the Mount is what I require of those who would enter my heavenly kingdom. For was it not said, ‘You shall be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect?’ (Matt. 5:48)

Will I not do a perfecting work in those who are to be received of me in my own realm? For I say, except your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the nominal Christian of today, you shall not enter my heavenly kingdom.

My kingdom is not for babes and toddlers but for those who have been brought to maturity. For my kingdom is a ruling kingdom, and only those qualified to take a responsibility in my kingdom shall be admitted thereto.

Others, though saved, will be barred until they have come into that minimum perfection which I require. I say to you, study carefully the precepts of the kingdom as revealed in the Sermon on the Mount, for therein is the pattern of righteousness which I require. It is for those who are willing to be my disciples. (End of quote)

The Apostle Paul said a very true thing in Philippians 2:21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.

The introduction and foundation parable in the entire teaching ministry of Christ is found in

Mark 4:1-32 And He began again to teach by the seaside.

And there was a great crowd gathered to Him, so that He entered into a boat and sat in the sea. And the whole crowd was on the land by the seaside. And He taught them many things by a parable.

And He said to them in His teaching: Listen!

Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, it happened that indeed some fell by the wayside, and the fowls of the air came and ate it up. And another fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth. And it sprang up at once, due to not having deepness of earth. And when the sun rose, it was scorched. And because it had no root, it withered away. And another fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

And another fell on good ground and yielded fruit, going up and increasing. And one bore thirty, and one sixty, and one a hundredfold. And He said to them, He who has ears to hear, let him hear. And when He was alone, they who were about Him, with the Twelve, asked Him concerning the parable.

And He said to them, To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God. But to those outside, all these things are given in parables so that seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

And He said to them, Do you not know this parable?

And how then will you know all parables?

The sower sows the Word. And these are those by the wayside, where the Word is sown.

And when they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the Word that was sown in their hearts. And these are those likewise being sown on stony places; who, when they hear the Word, immediately receive it with gladness. But they have no root in themselves, but are temporary. Afterward when affliction or persecution arises for the Word’s sake, they are immediately offended. And these are those being sown among thorns; such as hear the Word, and the cares of this world, and the deceit of riches, and the lust about other things entering in, choke the Word, and it becomes unfruitful.

And these are those sown on good ground, who hear the Word and welcome it, and bear fruit, one thirty, one sixty, and one a hundredfold. And He said to them, Does a lamp come to be put under a grain-measure, or under a bed and not to be set on a lampstand? For there is nothing hidden which shall not be revealed; nor became covered, but that it might come to the light. If any man has ears to hear, let him hear. And He said to them, Take heed what you hear.

With that measure which you measure, it shall be measured to you. And to you who hear, more shall be given. For he who has, more shall be given to him; and he who has not, from him shall be taken even that which he has.

And He said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; and should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knows not how. For the earth brings out fruit of itself, first the blade, then the ear, after that the full grain in the ear.

But when the fruit has been brought out, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come. And He said, to what shall we compare the kingdom of God? Or by what parable shall we compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that are in the earth. But when it has been sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out great branches, so as to enable the birds of the air to roost under its shade.

God speaks to us through His Son, are you listening?

Hebrews 1

1 God, who at many times and in various manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Has in these last days spoken unto us by his Son

Every faithful seeker of the truth needs to understand the power, the reality and the urgency in this chapter of the Bible because as the Lord asked in verse 13 Do you not understand this parable?

How then will you understand any parable?

Understanding is the principle thing in the whole teaching ministry of our Lord because without understanding the disciple will not know what the Teacher is trying to teach or impart.

How can we be taught without understanding?

If we understand then we can respond to the power and the reality of truth because our very life depends on it. Through this parable the Father wants the followers of His Son to grasp the importance of listening, and listening in such a way until we receive the necessary insight of what Jesus is saying. This spiritual insight only comes from the Holy Spirit because He is the Mentor in your life.

If we understand what the Lord is saying to us then we can respond the truth that will change our lives. Is your devotion toward God shallow or are you a sold-out believer? If sold-out then ask Him today to plunge your life into the very depths of Christ.

How will any child become successful in life without understanding and how will any child become schooled without proper education? The greatest problem on this planet is our lack of listening and therefore it is so very important to understand this awesome parable.

So let us make the decision to become radical with the Lord in our obedience because Jesus is Gods communication to His creation and if we fail to understand what the Lord is revealing in Mark chapter 4 the enemy will surely have a foothold in our lives and keep us bound in our ignorance of the truth. This chapter should be established as a foundation in the heart of every believer because true faith is always demonstrated through radical obedience.

The Truth can only set you free if you allow Him dwelling place in your heart; this is why, when He was speaking of the good soil people in verse 20, He said these are those sown on good ground, who hear the Word and welcome it, and bear fruit, one thirty, one sixty, and one a hundredfold.

In other words, you will produce the fruit of righteousness in your life, as you walk with God, to the extent that you allow Him to cultivate your heart 30, 60 or 100 fold, so we need to allow Him to farm and foster the growth of His word so that it may bring forth the required fruit to the glory of our God and until we all come to maturity.

What are these fruits?

In verse 24 of Mark 4 the Lord said, Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you, and to you who hear, more will be given. More will be given, in other words the obedient children will increase more and more as is stated in 2 Corinthians 3:18, from glory to glory.

We ourselves become living epistles known and read by all men.

This is an awesome calling as a born-again child of God to become a walking living epistle and in the fear of God we must walk worthy of this calling. If we resist the writing of His laws in our hearts and in our minds then we blaspheme His name amongst the nations of the earth. An obedient heart will reflect a life filled with the glory of God.

It is to His glory that we bring forth and manifest the fruits of righteousness because as Christians we are not self-centered people. We do not live to please ourselves but we live to please our awesome God. To allow Him to write His laws on our hearts and minds means to allow God to change us by the power of His truth.

We read 2Corinthians 3:2-18 You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men, it having been made plain that you are the epistle of Christ, ministered by us, not having been written with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not on tablets of stone, but in fleshly tablets of the heart. And we have such trust through Christ toward God, not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God; who also has made us able ministers of the new covenant; not of the letter, but of the spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit makes alive. But if the ministry of death, having been engraved in letters in stone was with glory (so that the sons of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses because of the glory of his face), which was being done away; shall not the ministry of the Spirit be with more glory? For if the ministry of condemnation is glorious, much more does the ministry of righteousness exceed in glory. For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. For if that which has been done away was glorious, much more that which remains is glorious.

Then since we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech. And we are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of the thing being done away. (But their thoughts were blinded; for until the present the same veil remains on the reading of the old covenant, not taken away.) But this veil has been done away in Christ. But until this day, when Moses is read, the veil is on their heart.

But whenever it turns to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. And the Lord is that Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with our face having been unveiled, having beheld the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are being changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Lord Spirit.

This happens as we pursue the Lord through a life-style of personal worship in the privacy of our rooms, by spending time with the Holy Spirit in God’s word and through prayer.

Every other aspect of the worship and adoration of God flows naturally out of these devotional disciplines.

An obedient life will bring forth beautiful fruit and as people taste Christ in you they will be drawn to Him. The great and glorious eternal God gives Himself to us through His revealed word and as we embrace Him through our obedience we allow the Lord to manifest the glory of His new covenant in and through our lives because what really matters is a new creation, a life that is fully transformed and renewed.

As a loving Father He wants to unveil Himself in His beloved children, a glorious people, a royal priesthood and a holy nation declaring the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Are we not called to walk as children of light and did He not say that there can be no fellowship between light and darkness? Light cannot enter darkness unnoticed and therefore we have a responsibility to let our light so shine that people may see the reality of our God in our lives. Our presence in the earth should stir a sinful world toward repentance.

Also as in a mirror we behold the glory and the reality of our God through His word. The image of Christ is reflected to us in the word of God so the word can be viewed as a talking mirror.

We look into the mirror and it exposes our true condition in the presence of the truth. It tells us what is wrong with us and what to do to become what we see, as we obey by applying the truth to our lives we are being transformed until we become what we see, in other words until we behold ourselves in Jesus, until we become expressions of the truth and reflections of the beauty, the nature and the character of the Lord our God.

We also behold the glory of our God as we come before His presence through times of personal worship and adoration because everything happens in His glorious presence. Remember the more we press into and pursue the Light the more He will reveal, expose and expel the darkness in us.

INDEED THE SCRIPTURE IS TRUE in 2Corinthians 4:6 For it is God who said, “Out of darkness Light shall shine;” who shone in our hearts to give the brightness of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

He is a glorious God and He brings forth, glorious and obedient offspring created after God in true righteousness and holiness. Our lives should be living testimonies of the truth and the reality of the gospel of Jesus the Son of God. May we like Jesus, in Him, become the express image of the invisible God, in other words, may we become a true reflection of Christ to the world as a testimony of our devotion to God.

This was prayed in John 17:21-23 May they all be one! Even as you, Father, are in me and I am in you, so let them be in us, so that all men may come to have faith that you sent me. And the glory which you have given to me I have given to them, so that they may be one even as we are one; I in them, and you in me, so that they may be made completely one, and so that it may become clear to all men that you have sent me and that they are loved by you as I am loved by you.

We need to take heed what we hear through Gods word because the measure of thought and study that you give to the truth that you hear, will be the measure of knowledge and understanding that comes back from the Holy Spirit.

This is also why it is so important to meditate on the word of God as much as you can because the Holy Spirit gets involved and you can even ask Him to help you and empower you to meditate on Gods truths, He loves to reveal hidden mysteries to His children. The gospel is a revelation of the Fathers heart of God demonstrated in the life of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

I love the revelation which the Holy Spirit has me in Hebrews 10 of how the inward transformation of the new covenant works.

Hebrews 10:15 The Holy Spirit also is a witness to us: for after this he had said before,
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

REMEMBER WE LEARNED THAT HE WRITES US AS LIVING EPISTLES.

2 Corinthians 3:2 You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3 Since you are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart.

God said that He changes us progressively by the power of His truth to raise us up until we become like His Son, the Word. He changes us like a potter molds a piece of clay by the power of His word until we become living expressions of His truth, until we manifest the character, the nature, the image and likeness and also the holiness of the Word of God.

First the word becomes flesh within you through your obedience and relationship-building with the Word (Jesus), next you become filled with the Holy Spirit because the Word and the Spirit are one and the Spirit manifests the life of the Word in you. Then you become the voice and the operation of the Word by the power of God through the leading of the Holy Spirit. In God you become the authority.”

John 1

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness overcame it not.

Romans 12

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

How can God manifest himself in you and make home in you if you neglect spending much time with Him in His word?

Ask Him today to manifest Matthew 5:6 in you by the power of His Spirit.

6 Blessed are they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
