Finish your race !
The gift righteousness imparted to you by the blood of Christ through the work of His cross unto salvation and the fruits of righteousness that you are called to grow into, which is the life of Christ that is wrought out in us unto mature sonship as you nurture and cultivate your personal intimate relationship with God is not the same and this is where many stumble and fall into deception and complacency.
You cannot stay in the unregenerated, unrenewed, unrepentant, rebellious and stubborn condition of your fleshly life all of your Christian life while you sleep away and stay ignorant to the call to press on to know the Lord and to make your calling and election sure.
Indeed many are called to answer the upward call of God in Christ unto mature sonship and to be crowned with great honor and glory as one who has overcome, yet only few are chosen because they made the decision to truly lay themselves down to become radical followers of the Master.
It is clear !
Hebrews 12:5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons, My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked by Him;
6 for whom the Lord loves He chastens, and He scourges every son whom He receives.
7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons, for what son is he whom the father does not chasten?
8 But if you are without chastisement, of which all are partakers, then you are bastards and not sons.
9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh who corrected us, and we gave them reverence. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?
10 For truly they chastened us for a few days according to their own pleasure, but He for our profit, that [we] might be partakers of His holiness.
11 Now chastening for the present does not seem to be joyous, but grievous. Nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who are exercised by it.
Do not be an Esau that forfeits your kingdom birthright, which becomes the portion of the disciplined obedient sons and daughters,
because you choose to settle for a life lived in the flesh by which you are driven and occupied by the deceitful lusts of your fallen nature.
2 Peter 1
1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained like precious faith with us through [the] righteousness of our God and our Savior Jesus Christ,
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
3 according as His divine power has given to us all things that [pertain] to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who has called us to glory and virtue,
4 through which He has given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, so that by these you might be partakers of [the] divine nature, having escaped the corruption [that is] in [the] world through lust.
5 But also in this very thing, bringing in all diligence, filling out your faith with virtue, and with virtue, knowledge;
6 and with] knowledge self-control, and [with] self-control, patience, and [with] patience, godliness,
7 and [with] godliness, brotherly kindness, and [with] brotherly kindness, love.
8 For if these things are in you and abound, they make you to be] neither idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 For he] in whom these things are not present is blind and cannot see afar off and has forgotten that he was purged from his sins in the past.
10 Therefore, brothers, rather be diligent to make your calling and election sure, for [if you] do these things, you shall never fall.
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Refuse to camp on lesser ground. Ask the Holy Spirit to make you a passionate radical lover and pursuer of God.
Don’t expect to lay claim to the prize unless you have first finished the race.
1 Corinthians 9:24 Do you not know that those running in a race all run, but one receives the prize? So run, that you may obtain.
25 And everyone who strives for the mastery is temperate in all things. Then those truly that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.
26 So then I run, not as if I were uncertain. And so I fight, not as [one who] beats the air.
27 But I buffet my body, and lead [it] captive, lest proclaiming to others I myself might be rejected.
Romans 8:12 Therefore, brothers, we are not debtors to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.
13 For if you live according to the flesh, you shall die. But if you through [the] Spirit mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live.
14 For as many as are led by [the] Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption by which we cry, Abba, Father!
16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.
17 And if we are children, then we are heirs; heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ; so that if we suffer with [Him], we may also be glorified together.
