The Armor of God.
THE RESTORATION OF TRUTH.
By Pieter Kirstein
A quote from a prophecy spoken through J Leland Earls.
“Prepare, prepare, says the Lord, for it is the day of the Lord’s preparation. For I would have My people prepare themselves for that which is coming, says the Lord.
For does a man go into battle without preparation?
Does an athlete engage in a contest without training?
I say to you, if you do not let Me prepare you for that which is coming you will surely not be able to stand.
But how shall we be prepared you ask?
Let Me do a work in your life which has never been done before, for I am able says God, to take you toMyself and prepare you as a vessel which shall be used of Me and which shall show forth My glory.
But first you must be willing.
You must be willing to submit yourselves to Me in everything, yes, in every detail of your life.
For I will take you and remold you and make you a fit vessel to contain that which is necessary to withstand in this evil day all of the onslaughts of the enemy. Therefore My people, let Me prepare you says the Lord. (end of quote)
It seems that most Christian people are ignorant that the enemy walks about like a roaring lion seeking to devour for is it not written in Ephesians 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.
2 Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
Scripture instructs us to be strong in the Lord but can we find our strength in God when we don’t make the effort to know God as our strength?
Can we find our strength in God if we don’t spend much time in His presence?
Can we find or even understand that the Lord desires to be the strength of His people when we keep doing our own thing and going our own way?
Does He not instruct His disciples to follow Him in the road of the cross to the end of themselves as we allow Him to work all the required change into us ?
Ask any one of the true followers and disciples of the Lord that it’s in the stripping process of the work of the cross where you find the true strength of God for it’s only when we realise our own inability and weaknesses that His strength is made perfect.
Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day;(BEING ALERT AND AWAKE) not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. (THROUGH REBELLION AGAINST GOD)
14 But put you on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.
For the flesh is the ground through which Satan finds a foothold within our lives. Man sins because he we yields himself to that which the old self wants and desire.
We are commanded to yield our members as instruments unto righteousness which means doing the right thing according to the likeness and image of Christ being strengthened by the virtues, the fruits and divine attributes of God’s Spirit indwelling us as new creations. The fruits and the attributes of the Spirit is the life of Christ wrought out in the developing life and journey of the born-again seed. Our growth and process are cultivated through our intimate personal relationship with the God of our salvation.
Romans 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield you your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin: but yield yourselves to God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places.
13 Therefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thus with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
In the above scripture passage we are instructed to to do the following things;
1. Put on the whole armor, not some of the armor.
Then we see the reason – “that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
If we do not obey God’s clear instructions in His word how then will we stand?
For to ignore and to disobey is rebellion that opens the door for the witchcraft power of Satan’s Kingdom to paralyse us and to lead us astray.
It’s the same as James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
If we refuse to submit then we have no power or authority against the devil for the order of obedience is crystal clear – first submit to God – then resist.
I remember how a demon rebuked a child of God during a deliverance session many years ago because she had sin in her life. She was in disobedience and rebellion in that area and she tried to exercise her authority in Christ by commanding a spirit of bondage to come out of an ex-drug dealer.
The demon spoke up and told her to get sin out of her life before she tried to take him on.
How can you command Satan to obey you when you yourself are taken captive by him?
It’s like a prisoner trying to give orders to his jailers when he is the one who gave them the authority to lock him up in the first place.
The fact that the Bible says we are not under law does not mean that we have the right to live lawless lives because it’s God’s truth and instructions which sets us free.
James 1:22 But be you doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like to a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholds himself, and goes his way, and straightway forgets what manner of man he was.
25 But whoever looks into #the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
RELIGIOUS UNGODLY WRONG INTERPRETATION OF GOD’S WORD IS KEEPING MULTITUDES TODAY IN PRISONS OF BONDAGE, OF HOPELESSNESS AND DESPAIR BECAUSE MANY THINK THAT TO LIVE UNDER GRACE IS A LICENSE TO BE LAWLESS. THE DEVIL HAS DONE HIS WORK WELL IN HIS SUBTLETY AND CRAFTINESS.
They say things like, O we are not under law but under grace and by doing so they license themselves to live as they please and thus nullify the call to regeneration and holy living. Regeneration is the supernatural transformation work of the Spirit of God in the life of the believer, whereby the Lord transforms His children into new, holy, righteous, obedient and devoted children. Children who were born of God through rebirth, consecration and sanctification and who stand victorious in Christ as they are growing up into the fullness of Him who called them out of darkness into the freedom of Gods glorious Spirit.
A holy nation who have renounced the world with all of its evil seductions and a royal priesthood fully clothed in the full armor of the great God Jehovah, full of godly zeal, burning with a holy passion and hearts consumed with the love of God.
A people who plunder hell and populate heaven as they allow themselves to be used by the Lord to bring in a mighty harvest because they have surrendered themselves unto servant hood in the kingdom of God.
Who among us are genuinely obedient, sincere and strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, well instructed in the word of the living God and ready to be led by the Spirit of a sovereign God to do great exploits by His power in these last days?
We must allow ourselves to be greatly challenged by the Lord. We must allow God to work obedience unto righteousness into our hearts for we we are not under law but under grace. In this study you will learn exactly what the difference is between the works of the law of Moses and the law of faith proclaimed in Christ Jesus.
The law of works
The Lord God gave Moses a collection of laws which was written in a book and it became known as the Book of the Covenant, Exodus 24:7. It was given for Israel’s guidance until a more complete legislation should be provided. In this covenant between Jehovah God and Israel, Moses served as mediator; animals were sacrificed, the blood thus shed being also called the blood of the covenant.
The Lord God said to Moses, Now therefore, if you will obey My voice indeed, and keep My covenant, then you shall be a peculiar treasure unto Me above all people: for all the earth is Mine: And you shall be unto Me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shall speak unto the children of Israel. And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him. Exodus 19:5
A few months after the Exodus (Exodus 19:1) Israel arrived at Sinai. Immediately at the command which Moses had received from God in the Mount, they prepared themselves by a ceremony of sanctification for entrance into covenant relation with Jehovah. When the great day arrived for making this covenant, Moses in the midst of supernatural phenomena went again to meet the Lord at the top of the mountain. Upon his return (Exodus 19:25), the words of the law, or the terms of the covenant, were declared to the people, and accepted by them. The first part of these covenant-terms, namely, the Decalogue (Exodus 20:2-17), was spoken by the Divine voice (Exodus 20:18). Therefore in response to the pleadings of the terrified people Moses went up again into the mountain and received from God for them the rest of the words and ordinances (Exodus 24:3); and these constitute the so-called Book of the Covenant (Exodus 20:22-23). The prophets regarded the making of the Sinaitic covenant as the marriage of Israel and Yahweh, and these laws were the terms mutually agreed upon in the marriage contract.
All this under the old covenant was a shadow of the reality that we find in Jesus today and in the bridal relationship that we have with God as His church or dwelling place and holy temple.
The purpose of the Mosaic Law however was to present the whole world guilty before God and to declare that man is in desperate need of a Savior because of his fallen nature. As it is written in Romans 8:3 the law was weakened through the fallen nature of man and in Romans 3:23 the word of God declares that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
Romans 7:6-13: But now we having been set free from the Law, having died to that in which we were held, so that we serve in newness of spirit (new creations) and not in oldness of the letter (the law of Moses). What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! But I did not know what sin is except through the law. For also I did not know lust except the law said, you shall not lust.
But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, worked in me all kinds of lust (because of our fleshly, fallen and sinful nature). For apart from law sin was dead. (none existent) For I was alive without the law once. But when the commandment came, sin revived (were exposed and sprang to live in me) and I died.
And the commandment, which was to be life, was found to be death to me. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me. So indeed the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good.
Then has that which is good become death to me?
Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear to be sin (or that sin, being darkness, might be exposed as sin by the law which comes from the God of light), working death in me by that which is good; in order that sin might become exceedingly sinful by the commandment. (Satan exploited the sinful nature of man through all kinds of temptations and used the law against us, to kill us by making us transgressors of Gods law)
Through Abraham our great ancestor the Lord God planned to have a people in future generations who would be justified by grace through faith in His Son Jesus Christ and not by observance of the Mosaic laws. As the scripture declares in John 1:17 for the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
The law could not change us but paralyzed us and locked us up in a sinful fleshly prison as lawbreakers. You are under the law when you are in prison and we are lawbreakers by nature through the fall of Adam. In Isaiah 61 we see that Jesus came to set the captives free and release us from the prison houses of sinful slavery.
We can now become new creations in the likeness and image of our eldest first born Brother.
This is why God in His wisdom decided upon the new birth through the implanting of the incorruptible seed of His word, because through the process of regeneration the Lord God can now transform His born-again children into new powerful creations bringing forth fruit unto Christ-likeness as His divine nature develops in us.
This transformation, growth and development is revealed by Jesus through the parable of the sower. We become 30 fold born-again babies, we develop until we become 60 fold young children then onward until we reach the 100 fold manifestation of mature sonship, which is SPIRITUAL FRUITFULNESS.
The fruit speaks of the mature stage of the developing seed. So when we talk about the FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT, we talk about the life of manifest sonship, which is the life of Christ.
2Pet 1:3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and virtue; 4 by which He has granted to us His precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.
About the Mosaic Law it is written in Romans 3:20 therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
In other words, the law was brought in to expose our sinfulness before a holy God, to reflect His righteous character and to reveal our intense need of a Savior.
God said to Abraham in Genesis 22:18 and in thy Seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed My voice.
Now this “Seed” whom God referred to was obviously His own Son Jesus Christ who is the Savior of the world and the Mediator of a much better covenant. As we know the natural descent of Jesus was from the lineage of Abraham.
This plan through Abraham is revealed in Galatians 3:6-25, Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know you therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which are of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. For as many as are of the works of the law (the Mosaic law) are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continues not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, (1) The just shall live by faith (grace revealed in Christ through the gift of salvation). And the law is not of faith: but, (2) The man that doeth them shall live in them (the law of works given to Moses). Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ (the blessing of Abraham is justification by faith in Christ Jesus and the finished work of His cross in becoming born-again children of God by which we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit); that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; though it is but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulled, or added thereto.
Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, and to seeds, as of many; but as of one, and to thy seed, which is Christ. And this I say that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law which was given four hundred and thirty years later, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. Wherefore then serve the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness (right standing with God) should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise (of justification) by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe (in Jesus). But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ (our Savior), that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster (which is the Mosaic Law given to Moses on Mount Sinai).
The law did not have the power to change us but exposed us as sinners before a righteous holy God. The Lord gave me a vision of the law running toward us like sheep dog. As they ran I saw them bark. The law was given as a tutor and a schoolmaster to point us (His sheep) to Christ our beloved Shepherd because only He has the grace and power to change us into new creations.
So what does this all mean exactly?
Are we now free from obeying the laws of a righteous God?
The law of faith
Let us see what the scripture says
Romans 3:21-31: But now the righteousness of God without the law (of Moses) is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation (He died in our place) through faith in His blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that He might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works (Moses)? Nay: but by the law of faith (in Jesus and His accomplished redemptive work). Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith (in Christ) without the deeds of the law (of Moses). Is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
So through the gospel of Jesus Christ, the righteous requirement of the Mosaic Law is fully met in us.
In what way?
Man did not give God any reason to justify him because he stands guilty under the law before the righteous Judge of all men.
We all deserved to be condemned to death because of our sin, but because of His tender mercy and gracious character God satisfied His justice through the sacrifice of His own innocent son as the scripture reveals, For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:3-4
Jesus declared in Matthew 5:17 think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
John 1:45 Philip finds Nathanael, and said to him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
Luke 24:44 And he said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning Me.
Luke 24:45-47 Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Luke 16:16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presses into it.
The reality of all of this is revealed in Heb 10:16-39: This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which He has consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh; And having a High Priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works [OBEDIENCE]: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching. For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much worse punishment, suppose you, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has done insult unto the Spirit of grace?
For we know him that has said, vengeance belongs unto me, I will recompense, says the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after you were illuminated, you endured a great fight with afflictions; Partly, while you were made a public display both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, while you became companions of them that were so used. For you had compassion on me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that you have in heaven a better and an enduring possession. Cast not away therefore your confidence, which has great recompense of reward.
For you have need of patience, that, after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
In other words we, through an intimate relationship with God because of what Jesus did for us on the cross, allow the Lawgiver himself to transform our person and our lives into complete new creations through which we now become partakers of His divine nature.
We become followers of Jesus as obedient children and not of the Mosaic Law. He himself became our righteousness [right standing with God] by meeting, accomplishing and fulfilling all the righteous requirements of that old law and we do not seek to establish our own righteousness by observing the laws of Moses because that belongs to an old order and the old covenant.
The new covenant in the blood of Christ proclaims us justified and righteous before Almighty God because of what He has done so we put our faith and hope in Jesus as a loving Savior.
NOW AS WE FOLLOW HIM WE ARE BEING TRANSFORMED AND CHANGED INTO HIS IMAGE AND LIKENESS THROUGH GODS MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION AND RESTORATION.
He changes us through the power of His truth as He works in our hearts and renew our way of thinking.
Then in 2 Corinthians 3:1-18 we read about the awesome glory of this new covenant which we have with God. We ourselves now become living epistles written by the Author of our salvation. By the power of the indwelling Word who is Jesus himself and by the transformation work of the Holy Spirit we show that we are letters from Christ known and read of all men. Our very lives should radiate the glory of our God and the truth of His word to a lost and a dying world. We need to embrace the gospel of our salvation through radical obedience because faith without works is dead.
The scripture reads
2 Corinthians 3:1-18: Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter (the Mosaic law), but of the spirit (the ministry of Christ): for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life (in John 6 the Lord declared that His words are Spirit and life to His followers). But if the ministration of death, written and engraved in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelled. For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remained is glorious. Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: But their minds were blinded: for until this day remains the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (He came to set the captive free). But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
We behold the glory of the Lord by the revelation of His word and as we come before Him in worship. We seek His face through prayer and we apply the word of God to our lives in obedience, the Holy Spirit will transform us into the likeness and the spiritual image of Jesus Christ from one level of glory to the next until we become mature and grow into the full measure of His stature.
Perfect obedience is to receive a revelation of the Fathers will and then carrying it out in the timing unction and power of the Holy Spirit-alone through the continual exercising of an absolute faith working through a perfect love.
Also we need to realize that there will always be a next, a deeper, and a higher and more glorious level to reach for in our intense pursuit of God. So in this covenant of grace through the Son of God, Christ Jesus, we can clearly see that God has called us unto obedience to the faith.
As in any loving family there are rules instructions and guidelines laid out by a loving father to nurture his children towards maturity. In the case of the new covenant through the shed blood of His Son our heavenly Father has called us to obey and follow the example and the teachings of His Son Jesus, realizing that Jesus is the Word.
Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. 2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. 3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. 5 Why when He comes into the world, Jesus said, Sacrifice and offering You (Father) would not, but a body have you prepared Me: 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You have had no pleasure. 7 Then said I, See, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of Me, this being Jesus) to do Your will, O God. 8 Above when He said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin You would not, neither had pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; 9 Then said Jesus, See, I come to do your will, O Father. He takes away the first (the law), that He may establish the second.(grace)
This is why the Apostle James by the Spirit of the Lord wrote the following to the church
James 1:21-25: Therefore put away all filthiness and extreme wickedness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be you doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror: For he beholds himself, and goes his way, and immediately forgets what manner of man he was. But whoever looks into the perfect law of liberty (the truth that gives you life and sets you free), and continues in it, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work (this work Jesus spoke about in John 6:28 and 29), this man shall be blessed in his deed (because he is an obedient follower). This is exactly what Jesus meant in (Joh 8:31) when He said, If you continue in My word, then are you My disciples indeed; And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 6:28-29 Then said they to him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that you believe on Him whom he has sent.
In other words, the law of faith which is found in Christ now liberates the sinner from bondage through His personal relationship with God.
I love what God said to me about this fact, “You were a success story before you were born because your book is already written in heaven. My word does not stop in the Bible because it carries on in you. Now you will discover it as your life unfolds in Me. First the word becomes flesh within you through your obedience and relationship-building with the Word (Jesus), next you become filled with the Holy Spirit because the Word and the Spirit are one and the Spirit manifests the life of the Word in you.
Then you become the voice and the operation of the Word by the power of God through the
leading of the Holy Spirit. In God you become the authority.”
Remember that Jesus Himself is the living Word of God. In the old covenant with Moses the Lord God gave man His precepts and laws written on stone and in the letter, but in the new covenant of grace He gave us His laws and his precepts revealed in His own glorious Son as the living Word of God now written on tablets of human hearts.
We invite Him as the truth to come and live within our willing surrendered yielded hearts and we allow His Holy Spirit to change and transform us to become like Jesus. Under the old covenant it was obedience to God through the Mosaic law of performance given to Moses but now through the new covenant the Spirit of God supernaturally transforms us into the likeness and image of His Son Jesus, who himself is the WORD.
He declares His work in us in Ezekiel 36:23 And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in the midst of them; and the nations shall know that I am the LORD, says the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.
24 For I will take you from among the nations, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my judgments, and do them.
28 And you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.
So the way in which the law stands opposite to the grace which is found in Christ is simply this:
The Mosaic Law of works required:
1.The man that doeth them shall live by them-legalism- Strict conformity to the letter of the law
2.Fleshly works-man’s performance
4.Sinful nature remained
5.No spiritual regeneration.
6.Sought to establish own righteousness
The law of faith in Christ:
1.The just shall live by faith in who God is and according to what He done for us through His Son, to bring us into a intimate personal relationship with Him.
2.Now the indwelling Spirit of the Lord empowers us to obey while transforming us to become like Jesus because only He is the Fathers perfect example to sinful men.
3.Sinful nature is rooted out and destroyed by the ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives. By the implantation of His incorruptible seed within our lives we are all placed in a righteous position in Christ and given the opportunity to become fully mature sons and daughters of God. Inward transformation.
4.Faith + works = obedience. As His disciples we follow and obey the Lord because we love Him, knowing that love for God is to obey His commandments.
5.Through regeneration by the power of God through the new birth and as new creations we now become partakers of God’s divine nature.
6.Our justification and righteousness is now proclaimed in Christ as His obedient disciples and followers because He fulfilled the Mosaic law on our behalf.
It must be clearly understood as is written and declared in Rom 13:8 -10 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loves another has fulfilled the law. For this, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love works no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
This walk of faith expresses itself in love through passionate, radical Holy Spirit empowered obedience.
The only thing that pleases our heavenly Father is obedience by conforming to the example of His Son, which He works into us.
2Cor 5:14-21 For the love of Christ constrains us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not from now on live to themselves, but to him which died for them, and rose again. Why from now on know we no man after the flesh: yes, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now from now on know we him no more. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, not imputing their trespasses to them; and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be you reconciled to God. For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
This is why the Lord as our Teacher declared in John 8:31 If ye continue in My word (if you walk in obedience to My word), then are ye My disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
This truth is the meat of His word in John chapter 6:27, which endures unto eternal life
Romans 2:6-10: God who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing (obedience) seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that worketh good (walks in obedience), to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
You are under the law when you are a lawbreaker and a lawless disobedient
person living in rebellion against the governing authorities. This is what gives Satan legal right in our lives.
When a person broke the law then the law will arrest him legally and he will end up in prison so what it means that we are not under the law any longer means that we don’t have to be bound by sin in Satan’s prisons any longer.
YOU ARE UNDER THE LAW WHEN YOU LIVE IN THE PRISON OF THE LUST OF THE FLESH, THE PRIDE OF THIS LIFE AND THE LUST OF THE EYES THROUGH HUMAN BROKENNESS AND YOU ARE IN BONDAGE TO YOURSELF.
Jesus came to set the captives free and to rescue us from ourselves.
This is why see the ministry of Jesus who is the Spirit of grace in Isaiah 61 unto those who don’t want to be under the law any longer – 1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
3 To appoint to them that mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
