The Armour of God part 6

The Armor of God.

Part 6

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

17 And take the helmet of salvation.

We see God’s helmet of salvation as another type of shield and protection which covers the head area and we need to guard our hearts and minds against the deception of guilt, accusation and condemnation for it is written in Romans 8:

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

The old Mosaic Covenant with all of it’s legalistic rules and regulations were nailed to the cross which brought guilt and condemnation but to the born – again child of the Father we stand gracefully justified by faith in our Savior Jesus the Christ.

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

10 And you are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power:

11 In whom also you are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

12 Buried with Him in baptism, wherein also you are risen with Him through the faith of the operation of God, who has raised him from the dead.

13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has he quickened together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances (THE OLD COVENANT GIVEN TO MOSES) that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

There’s no guilt, accusation and condemnation for those who allow themselves to be led by the Spirit of God and this speaks of our submission and obedience to the God of our salvation. Again there’s a holy balance to everything and we need to understand what the Spirit is saying.

This does not mean that we can do what we want and live as we please for there is a once saved – always saved false doctrine going around that causes men to fall into deception and to have no regard or respect for the Spirit of grace and causes unrepentant men to trample the sacred blood of Jesus under their stubborn rebellious feet.

Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,

27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose you, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has done despite to the Spirit of grace?

30 For we know him that has said, Vengeance belongs to me, I will recompense, said the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge His people.

31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Moses and the rebellious Israelites are used by God to warn and admonish us to serve Him acceptably with reference and fear because we are commanded to renounce the destructive ways of Satan.

Hebrews 12:25 See that you refuse not Him that speaks. For if they escaped not who refused Him that spoke on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from Him that speaks from heaven:

26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now He has promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

27 And this word, Yet once more, signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

28 Why we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

29 For our God is a consuming fire.

SEE, WITNESS AND REALISE THEREFORE THE PURPOSE OF GRACE BELOVED IN VERSE 28 – let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.

Salvation is a very sacred and precious holy gift which was purchased by the blood of the innocent Son of God that we might repent and turn away from sin and be brought into a covenant intimate relationship with the God who’s habitation is holy.

If we claim that we know Him yet continue to fellowship with the things that destroyed our souls in the years that we lived in rebellion and ignorance against God can we then claim that we are followers of God?

Ephesians 5

1 Be you therefore followers of God, as dear children;

2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling smell.

3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becomes saints;

4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

5 For this you know, that no fornicator, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God on the children of disobedience.

7 Be not you therefore partakers with them.

8 For you were sometimes darkness, but now are you light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

10 Proving what is acceptable to the Lord.

11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatever does make manifest is light.

14 Why he said, Awake you that sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.

15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 Why be you not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.

Repentance from our former way of life must be an ongoing thing for God called us to be partakers of His holiness. We are now called to walk in the light as children of the light. Light expels darkness and exposes everything as we choose to live transparent before the God who sees all.

1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare to you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

7 But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleans us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

So keep your helmet on and gracefully grow and mature in the Lord and rest in the unshakeable, unchangeable truth that Your salvation is seated at the right hand of your heavenly Father for it is written in Ephesians 2:

1 And you has He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love with which He loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, has quickened us together with Christ, (by grace you are saved;)

6 And has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

7 That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

8 For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.

If you stumble over fleshly weaknesses, your shortcomings, your faults, your imperfections and failures then simply give them to the Father and keep your eyes on Jesus. He’s a Father that loves you who’s grace and mercy is upon your life. He’s not a God who stands with a legalistic sword over your head of fault- finding, judgment and accusation because the judgment unto condemnation fell upon Jesus so that His grace and truth might be wrought out into our lives through a judgment of love.

We do however submit ourselves to be exposed before God and we embrace the judgment by which correction is brought to our lives.

Through the merciful judgment of love according to the standard of truth the Father teaches and instructs us to discern and distinguish between the profane and the holy. He’s calling a bride unto himself who is willing to be changed by the same grace by which she was saved. We must allow Him to not just save us out of the world, but to also take the world and it’s destructive ways out of us because He wants to bring us into His world.

We must ask the Lord to continually draw us into fellowship with Him through His word so that our minds might be renewed to the standard of His truth so that we will not abuse the precious merciful gift of salvation afforded to us by His precious and holy blood.

The rod of His discipline works change unto holiness and fruitful maturity as we pursue Him daily through intimate relationship to bring us into agreement with himself and His ways.

So refuse to camp on the level of salvation beloved soldier of the cross and press on toward maturity.
