It’s sad that many claim to be Christians yet neglect and fail to follow Christ in obedience on the road of the cross unto the death of their own ways that they might truly be sons and daughters being led by His Spirit according to His plans, purposes and kingdom agenda.
People are offended by the call to discipleship, Spiritual discipline and a life of sacrifice and truly this being the reason why the life of Christ is foreign to most.
The life of Christ is mature sonship after His image and likeness which only becomes a reality when one is willing to abandon all that they might gain Christ.
Philippians 3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but rubbish, that I may win Christ,
9 And be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
10 That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death.
IT’S THE HOLY SPIRIT THAT DOES THIS CRUCIFIXION WORK IN US UNTIL THE OLD MAN IS TRULY DEAD. THEN COMES THE RESURRECTION INTO THE GLORIFIED LIFE OF CHRIST WHICH BECOMES THE PORTION OF THE MATURE SONS AND DAUGHTERS.
Romans 8:5 For if we have been united with Him in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that we should no longer serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we are dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dies no more; death has no more dominion over him.
10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he lives, he lives unto God.
