To be led by the Spirit

It’s time to grow up !

By Pieter Kirstein

Romans 8

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13 For if you live after the flesh, you shall die: but if you through the Spirit do put to death the deeds of the body, you shall live.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

This means that we are called, NOW THAT WE’VE BEEN SAVED BY GRACE, to submit ourselves to the transformation work of the Holy Spirit unto Christ likeness if we desire to be brought into the victory of the overcomer.

If we choose to stay fleshly Christians then we forfeit the upward call of God in Christ to be honored a place with Him on His throne, even though we might be saved. We are called to overcome our natural old earthy fleshly man by allowing ourselves to be changed through the circumcision of a personal cross which speak of a progressive Holy Spirit cutting away of that which is sinful, earthy and fleshly within us.

Further in Romans 8 we read 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

If we stay stubborn and refuse to undergo Spiritual growth and transformation then we miss the goal of being born-again entirely to grow up into the full measure of the stature of Christ.

I mean how foolish it would be for any child to want to stay a baby for the rest of their life?

We are called out of ourselves into Christ. We are called to be transformed out of our childish selfish ways into the Spiritual maturity of Christ likeness. To be a baby Christian is to be a fleshly Christian and to become a Spiritual Christian is to become a mature Christian that walks in the ways and the manner and the power of the Lord unto the benefit and help of others to the glory of the Father.

Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:

14 That we from now on be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive;

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, who is the head, even Christ:

16 From whom the whole body being fitly joined together and knit together by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto licentiousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

20 But you have not so learned Christ;

21 If so be that you have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

22 That you put off concerning the former way of life the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24 And that you put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
